Silk-screen printing course: “Narratives of the Old Ornament“

This course will analyze the ornament idea and its plastic expression; it will also give knowledge on textile decoration using silk-screen printing technology. It is intended for those who are interested in ornament aesthetics, its historical origin and interpretation. Students will be introduced with silk-screen printing technology. The advanced students will deepen their experience. During the course the printing technologies using one or several colours will be taught. The prints will be made on fabrics and textile objects (cloths, their accessories, tablecloths, etc.).

 The training program will proceed in several stages:

  • introduction of silk-screen printing technology, means, artistic expression and its dispersion
  • critical idea analysis
  • preparation of the selected design
  • practical mastering of the technology (performance and printing of a stencil)
  • implementation of works
  • discussion and analysis of implemented works


The course will be held by Bronė Neverdauskienė (practical activities) and Vita Gelūnienė (critical idea analysis).

 Students will be supplied with all basic working tools for mastering the basics of silk-screen printing technology. Colours, reagents and additional materials students will have to purchase themselves.
