Programmes Hemispheres

The three-year Hemispheres project was started in January 2009 and there have been already three sessions related to the agricultural issues, labour rights and attainability of information.
To be involved in Hemispheres means to participate in a three weeks training activity, gain knowledge, educational tools and methods, which will help you to organise an international solidarity consciousness raising event in your home country.
The project is coordinated by a partner organization of the Kaunas Biennial, Frères des Hommes (Paris, France). Seminars are led by speakers and scientists from the Third World countries; youth comes for training from Lithuania, Estonia, Spain, Italy, Ireland, and France.

Coordinated by: Frères des Hommes (www.fdh.org)

Supported by: European Union

Daiva Šniraitė, Eglė Majauskaitė  WELCOME TO NOBODY CARES

October 30th (12—3 pm), Laisvės avenue, Kaunas

To continue the idea of the international Hemispheres project, which is to encourage people's initiative, participants invited passers-by to visit "the country"  named ‘Nobody Cares’. The main purpose of the project is to call the attention of passers-by to the violations of labour rights in consumer societies and encourage them to share their opinions. The project set up four stations for public debates (No 1. at the Courthouse; No 2. at the Central Post Office; No 3. at the Fountain; No 4. at the Church of Archangel Michael or Garrison Church), which was also featured by performances, artistic actions, installations and flash mobs (be prepared for various forms of art).

November 11th (12—3 pm), at Kaunas Picture Gallery.

The representatives of an international Hemispheres project in Lithuania invited to participate in art workshops during which a new life was breathed into used items we no longer need. The project aimed to encourage people to think about the detrimental impact on the environment caused by us using plastic bags, bottles, cans, boxes, etc. During the workshop participants shared ideas about a sustainable lifestyle, which we will bring closer to realisation by turning waste into pleasant things.
