Kaunas Biennial is best known for presenting Lithuania’s international festival of contemporary art in textiles. TEXTILE 09 involves artists working with others to create opportunities for direct experience and live examination of art production. Together, artists and non-artists, can enjoy the process of realization, interact with each other and discover the value of a reciprocal art practice.
Realization involves collaboration, exchange, transaction, negotiation and participation. It seems particularly timely to use a biennial platform to refresh and revision the relationship between art, artists and non artists.
Nine satellite exhibitions are also programmed to run parallel to the residencies. An innovation of the 7th edition of Kaunas Biennial is the Education Programme for families and young people.

The intention of TRAIN B is to initiate new ties between art, artists and visitors to the Biennial. Our experience in previous editions tell us that we have to create pathways for families and young people to enjoy, discover and interact with the Biennial participants. Also, we have to engage with art students and the wider student population that attend the universities and colleges in Kaunas city. |
