Audrius Janušonis. FOR THE POETS OF KAUNAS

Audrius Janušonis FOR THE POETS OF KAUNAS
The Laureat of 9th Kaunas Biennial UNITEXT 2013

Inspiration
An old story: early in the morning, a wreath hangs from a wall of the Teachers’ House in Vilnius. It’s a simple funeral wreath with a ribbon that says: “To the city of Vilnius from the punks of Varėna.”

Method
The exhibition does not have a single polished concept. There was no specific intention, no artistic research, therefore I cannot share any specific impressions, revelations or findings. I lived, I did what I usually do, and this is a mere reflection of my everyday activities. The exhibition might be considered a result of trial and error. Stick a nail into an outlet to check for current, touch a battery with your tongue to taste it.

Image
Ceramic “statues” and objects, metal and wooden elements, pieces of furniture, a few sounds and drawings.

Sound
I know nothing about sound. I treat it like clay – knead it and compress it into small balls that you can get rolling a piece of clay between your palms.

Another Story
Roman Signer sits in front of a white canvas resting on an easel. He is waiting with a brush in a raised hand. A fuse is burning a couple of yards behind him. Moments later, a squib goes off, the hand twitches and the brush leaves a fat black spot on the canvas.
