The video In-between records a Kafkaesque situation where the artist has been stuck between two doors for the duration of his one-hour performance. People continuously enter and exit, interacting with him or just passing through. On his head, MD, as the initials of Moldova, refer to a parallel between the individual and his home country, which similarly finds itself in an in-between state. The tone of absurdity that characterizes the work goes together with imagery of being in transition, and it encourages reflection upon the “in-between” as an individual situation, as well as a condition that eventually links the countries of the former Soviet Union.
