This program offers a gripping, ambitious and intensive creative process.

Creative intrigue of the program forecasts the recording of a participant’s self-portrait and historical portrait genre example identity. Subjective experience, visual similarity or intuitive closeness inspires to find personal contact of the participant with the chosen classical art’s character. Provocative motivation: present in the past; culture signs in the present; features of person’s identity and affinity; features of visual similarity of the character, etc. During the creative process it is suggested to get to know, to befriend, to try to walk in one’s shoes and make an attempt to switch places with the portrayed character in the specific stylistic space.

Ambitious creative process challenges a rather professional management of computer graphical software. Sketches are developed in virtual space of „Photoshop“, and the final ideological result is corrected and improved.

No less ambitious part of the process attempts to transfer this result into the jacquard weaving system. The jacquard weaving software, designed for computer-assisted weaving loom TC-1, is introduced.

The intensive creative process enables to flawlessly accurately implement the creative idea using up-to-date textile technologies in the practical weaving process.

The result of the proposed program is a contemporary textile production.

Preparation of the creative project using Adobe Photoshop and its implementation for computer-assisted jacquard loom TC-1

This program is comprised of two parts.

1. Project preparation employing Adobe Photoshop software (supervisor VAA KAD doc. Vladas Oržekauskas; coordinator - prof. Laima Oržekauskienė)

 2. The conversion of prepared file for computer-assisted jacquard loom TC-1 and practical weaving. (supervisor - VAA KAD dr. Monika Žaltauskaitė, coordinator - prof. Laima Oržekauskienė)

Suggested project topics:

1. Self-portrait of Revival style

2. Self-portrait of Artdeco style

The integration of participants’ photographical self-portraits into classical works of art maximally preserving stylistics of the latter and plastic decisions.

The example of the task solution is presented in Word.doc

The project is carried out in five stages.

In the first stage, participants are introduced with the implemented decisions of the task.

In the second stage, participants study the portrait painting and graphics examples of the Revival and Ardeco styles, searching for inspiring motives, possible connections or similarity to their photographic pictures.

In the third stage, participants are introduced with Adobe Photoshop graphic software, learn how to reconstruct visual files.

In the fourth stage, participants are taught how to converse the prepared Photoshop projects for computer-assisted loom TC-1.

In the fifth stage, practical implementation of the project.

It’s a must for participants to have digital cameras and know how to use them.
